Type material. SYNTYPES (probable): 3 specimens, AM P3471 (according to Springthorpe & Lowry, 1994). Type locality. Port Jackson, New South Wales (33º 51'S 151º 16'E). Description. Based on J.L. Barnard, 1972: 262, figs 153-155 [Bare Island, Botany Bay, New South Wales, Cronulla, New South Wales]. Head lateral cephalic lobe without cusp; cephalic keel present, cephalic keel similar in size to epistome; rostrum small to medium in size. Antenna 2 slender. Mandibles and maxillae well developed; mandibular palp 3-articulate. Maxilla 1 palp 1-articulate. Maxilliped ischial endite (outer plate) developed, with lateral flange (?weakly). Peraeon. Gnathopod 1 coxa large, not hidden by coxa 2, anteroventral corner not produced, anteroventral corner rounded; dactylus vestigial. Gnathopod 2 coxa at least as long as broad, rounded anteroventrally; carpus with simple apex; propodus palm concave, propodus palm strongly crenulate anterodistally, weakly crenulate to smooth posteroproximally; dactylus, inner margin smooth. Peraeopod 3 coxa longer than broad, anteroventral corner overriding lateral face of coxa 2, not extending freely below it, ventral margin slightly convex. Peraeopod 4 coxa, posterior margin with posteroventral lobe (weak). Peraeopods 5 to 7 basis expanded. Pleon. Epimeron 3 posteroventral corner subquadrate. Habitat. Marine; often living in the stalked ascidian Pyura spinifera. Depth zone. Littoral. Distribution. Queensland: Thurday Island (Miers, 1884). New South Wales: Split Solitary Island (AM); Coffs Harbour (AM); Port Jackson (Haswell, 1879); Cronulla, Port Hacking (J.L. Barnard, 1972); Bare Island, Botany Bay (J.L. Barnard, 1972); Jervis Bay (AM); Jiguma (J.L. Barnard, 1972); Twofold Bay (Hutchings, et al, 1989). Victoria: Western Port (J.L. Barnard, 1972). Tasmania: Port Dalrymple (AM). Western Australia: Garden Island, Cockburn Sound (J.L. Barnard, 1972). Geographic areas. North-eastern Australia to South-eastern Australia to Southern Australia to South-western Australia to North-western Australia to Northern Australia.
