Speleonectes lucayensis Yager, 1981

Type material. HOLOTYPE: adult, 21.5 mm, USNM 184343. PARATYPES: 3 adults, 22-24 mm in the collection of Jill Yager.

Type locality. Lucayan Cavern, Grand Bahama Island, The Bahama Islands.

Description. Based on Yager, 1981: 328, figs 1-2. Body length medium (4.0-24.0), with 16-32 segments; pleura rounded posterolaterally. Head shield subrectangular. Antenna 1 short, less than 1/3 body length; dorsal ramus (exopod) with 12 articles; ventral ramus (endopod) with 8 articles. Antenna 2 exopod with about 20-26 plumose setae along margin (24). Maxilla 1 prehensile; articles 2 and 3 fused; article 4 with 2 robust apical setae; article 5 with 1-2 robust broad based setae, endite present (reduced), conical in shape; article 7 short. Maxilla 2 prehensile; consecutively shorter and smaller distal to point of flexure; article 5 with a clump of moderate to long slender setae along posterior margin; posterior margin distal to point of flexure with a fringe of slender setae along posterior margin. Maxilliped prehensile; consecutively shorter distal to article 5 (point of flexure); with a fringe of slender setae along posterior margin; posterior margin distal to point of flexure with a fringe of slender setae along posterior margin; article 6 divided into 3 articles. Uropodal rami shorter or subequal in length to anal segment.

Distribution. Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas.
