Anamixis nedcampensis Thomas

Anamixis nedcampensis Thomas, 1997: 61, fig. 13.

Type material. HOLOTYPE: male "L", 2.63 mm, AM P41033; PARATYPES: male "C" 2.95 mm, AM P41034 and male "M", 2.87 mm, AM P41035.

Type locality. Green and brown algae, inshore limestone reef south of Ned's Fish Camp, Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia (21º 59'S 113º 55'E).

Description. Based on Thomas, 1997: 61, fig. 13 [Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia].

Head lateral cephalic lobe without cusp; cephalic keel absent; rostrum small to medium in size. Antenna 2 slender. Mandibles and maxillae vestigial, forming a ventral keel, ventral keel anteroventrally rounded. Maxilliped ischial endite (outer plate) vestigial or absent, without lateral flange.

Peraeon. Gnathopod 1 coxa small or absent, hidden by coxa 2, anteroventral corner produced, anteroventral corner subtiangular, notched; dactylus well developed. Gnathopod 2 coxa at least as long as broad, rounded anteroventrally; carpus with small subapical tooth; propodus palm convex, propodus palm weakly crenulate or smooth along entire margin; dactylus, inner margin smooth. Peraeopod 3 coxa longer than broad, anteroventral corner overriding lateral face of coxa 2, not extending freely below it, ventral margin slightly convex. Peraeopod 4 coxa, posterior margin with posteroventral lobe (weak). Peraeopods 5 to 7 basis expanded.

Pleon. Epimeron 3 posteroventral corner narrowly rounded.

Male (sexually dimorphic characters). Mandibles and maxillae vestigial, forming a ventral keel.

Habitat. Marine; living among algae on shallow limestone reefs.

Depth zone. Littoral (1 m).

Remarks. Female unknown.

Distribution. Western Australia: Ningaloo Reef (Thomas, 1997).

Geographic areas. North-western Australia.
